Research Methods in Education is a course that introduces students to the various research methods used in education, including quantitative and qualitative approaches. Students will learn how to develop research questions and hypotheses, design studies, collect and analyze data, and interpret their findings. They will also learn about ethical issues in research, such as plagiarism, double-blind studies, participant consent forms, and ethics committees.
This course builds on a foundation of research methods. It deals primarily with giving students the opportunity to understand the fundamentals of research, as well as writing research proposals and papers. A focus on SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) for data analysis will be used to enhance the research process. This is a 6 credit hour course and is allotted 6 weeks of time.
